Expecting overnight guests? There’s no limit to what you can do to transform a room into a comfy home away from home. Follow these helpful tips to setting up an awesome guestroom and you might even have guests calling in for reservations!
Stock essentials. Help your guests feel at home by providing them little conveniences. Stock the room with amenities like a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, comb, plush towels, water bottles, over-the-counter pain reliever, extra charging cords for mobile devices and other items your guest would appreciate.
Add special touches. Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference. Add comforting aesthetics to the room like a basket of goodies, framed pictures of the city or town you live in, fresh flowers, potted plants and include a fun note letting your guest know you’re excited to have them.
Arrange strategically. Set the bed up close to an outlet for convenient phone or laptop charging, and be sure to have an alarm clock and lamp on a bedside table so your guest can read or find light in the middle of the night.
Spread warmth. It’s all about comfort in a guestroom. Have a couple throw blankets available so your guests can get nice and cozy.
Provide an escape. Provide fun magazines and must-read books to give your guests a way to wind down at the end of the day. Guide books of things to do in the area can inspire your guests to get more out of their visit.
Connect conveniently. Print out your Wi-Fi password and put it in a picture frame that you can hang or set on a table — convenient for both you and your guest!
Mirror, mirror. Hang up some mirrors, including a full-length one, so it’s easier for your guests to look their best while they’re in town. Plus, if your spare bedroom is small, mirrors make it appear bigger!
Supply storage. A dresser, hooks, hangers, closet space and a luggage rack are all useful storage options for guests to stay organized and keep the room tidy.
Add these simple comforts to your guestroom and your guests will thoroughly enjoy their stay while they’re in town. And, it’ll make it easier for you to be a super host.
