Watching your teen get behind the wheel is an exciting time. At American Family, we’re excited for this milestone in your teen’s life as well. But we also think it’s important for your teen to be a good student. If your teen shows they’re a responsible student, they can earn our Good Student discount and save on your car insurance premium.
Student Discount for Car Insurance
From maintaining a good GPA and balancing extracurricular activities to finding their first job, students and their families have enough on their plate. That’s why we offer a Good Student discount for car insurance, because we understand the hard work that goes into being a student — and the hard work it takes to support that student.
What is a Good Student discount?
The Good Student discount is a car insurance discount available to students who have earned good grades in school. By demonstrating they’re responsible with their schoolwork, the good student discount rewards these students who may also be responsible drivers.
How can I get a Good Student discount on my car insurance?
Good grades pay off. In some cases, your student’s top-notch track record could help you save on your insurance premiums. To qualify for this discount, students must be:
- Enrolled full-time in high school or a two- to four-year college or university, online school program or vocational-technical school.
- Between the age of 16 and 25, maintain a B average (3.0 GPA) or rank among the upper 20% of the class. (Your student’s report card of transcripts can be used to verify their good grades.)
- Be on the “Dean’s List,” “Honor Roll” or comparable list indicating scholastic achievement.
To find out if your student qualifies for the Good Student Discount, talk to your agent to discuss the details.
Homeschooled Students
If your student is homeschooled, they can still qualify for the Good Student discount. Within the last 12 months, your student must have scored in the upper 20% in a nationally recognized academic achievement test, including the SAT or ACT. Talk to your agent for more details.
